About Our Name
The exact origin of the word Brandywine is not known, but one story has it derived from the reported loss of a Dutch vessel on the lower waters of the creek which winds through the valley on its way to the Delaware River. The ship was reportedly laden with brandy – in the Dutch language, “brand – wijn”. As with most cargos during those times, this brandy was intended to be traded for commodities in the New World. The vessel was never recovered, but the creek became known as the Brandywine and the adventurous spirit of those early traders lives on – inspiring us to explore new worlds of profit potential.
